Is it possible to attach money to a letter instead of a stamp, and get it delivered?

That is one of the frequently asked questions that we often get to hear. Is it possible to attach money to a letter instead of a stamp, and get it delivered? And the answer is, Yes! It is possible to attach money instead of stamp to a letter, and still get it delivered in the United States. E.g., you have to send one letter, but it needs two stamps, and you have got only one, so you can attach one stamp and then some change (equal to the value of another one). The postman will still deliver your letter.

Is it possible everywhere?

It isn’t the case with every country in the world, though.  For example, in the UK, we have never heard of this happening with anyone. And in the UK, if you tape coins (equal to a stamp price) to the letter and post it and even if it gets processed, whomever you’re sending this letter to could be charged with extra money. Because Royal Mail rules say that any letter which is more than 5mm thick, is a large letter. Thus the sender has to pay more to send the letter.

As we all know, in the United States, if you simply leave the money for a postage stamp in a separate envelope attached with the mail item, you need to pass on instructions on what the money attached is for. The postman will happily process that for you and will attach the stamp instead of cash to your letter, and will get the mail delivered to the right place. And, in case if you leave extra money for stamps, they would deliver stamps to your place for you.

But don’t forget that this only works in the United States.  In many other countries, this thing doesn’t apply. So, if you’re a reader from the United States, this will surely be a great piece of information for you and will save you time too.
