Where to go with a bad credit score?

Bad credit often limits the ability to borrow money from traditional lenders. Although there are financial companies that specialize in lending people with bad credit, it is important to ensure you repair your bad credit for future purposes.

What is bad credit score?

Generally speaking, a score below 300 is considered as bad or poor credit. Most lenders won’t approve loan applications from such individuals because they lack confidence that they will repay the loan.

Those who issue loans charge very high-interest rates – since they consider people with bad credit as high-risk borrowers.

Having bad credit can lead to the following challenges:
• Potential rejection of loan applications such as car loans, mortgages, private student loans, personal loans among others
• Challenges in having a rental application approved
• Difficulty in getting cell phone contract renewed

How do you improve your credit score?

Unlike in the past, today it is much easier to have your credit score improved. The following are some of the ways:

  • 1. Regularly check your credit report

The fact that it is free to check your credit score makes it easy to keep track of it and identify issues affecting it negatively. There are several factors that affect your credit history. They include your repayment history, credit usage, number of credit accounts you have among others. Checking your credit score will help you know where to focus your energy on fixing it.

  • 2. Pay your bills on time

You should understand that repayment history has the largest impact on your credit score – 35%. As such, it is important to ensure that all your bills are cleared on time. One of the best ways to ensure our bills are paid on time is to create an autopay for recurring bills such as car insurance and student loans.   $Media.net

  • 3. Pay your debts

Unpaid debts affect your overall credit score by 30% – meaning it is the second-largest contributor besides payment history. The more you delay in repaying your debts, the poor your credit score gets.

  • 4. Credit repair companies

Last but not least, take advantage of credit repair companies. These are individuals and companies licensed to analyze and improved poor credit scores. All you have to do is send them your credit report and give them some time. Their work is to review your credit report and pick out any errors in the report that might have contributed to your bad credit.
